Hey thanks to all of you for subscribing at Patreon and bearing with me through this move. I’ve got no ill will toward Patreon, but it is kind of unfocused and definitely not geared toward writers.
But Substack is, and so here we are. One advantage is I’ll be able to embed Youtube videos in my music posts; Patreon somehow got crossways with them and thus that feature was not available there. It seems like the comment section is more user-friendly as well, so I hope we can liven up the discussions in that arena too.
I’ll be posting on Patreon up until January 30, and then I’ll be shutting that down. You don’t need to do a thing. I hope to successfully move the subscriptions over without a hitch. If you bought a yearly subscription to Patreon, you’ll be getting the same writing and swag I promised over there.
I’m excited! I’ll be churning my daily news of the world type post and also embarking on the resurrection of an old project of mine — the 100 greatest songs from Houston. I’ll also resume my history of pop and folk music in the Bayou City and much, much more as the year goes on. I’m open to monthly Ask Me Anything sessions, and I think I will be integrating some audio / podcast stuff too.
